NeighborWorks America
A national nonprofit, NeighborWorks America (“NWA”) was created in 1978 by an act of Congress to revitalize America's older, distressed communities by establishing and supporting a national network of local nonprofit organizations. NWA is one of the nation’s largest sources of funding and technical assistance to not-for-profit housing providers.
NWA engaged Compass to design, build and operate a performance reporting system. This system provides participating organizations with detailed information on the performance of their real estate, early warning of emerging issues, and a forum for understanding and addressing the weaknesses in the operations of these properties. In addition, this system is the framework for the capacity building of over 100 participating housing organizations, and contains quarterly operating data on over 1,000 properties.
Compass brought to this client all of the pieces necessary to build this solution: a profound understanding of real estate operating principles; sophistication in the design of information products, so that the data reveals insights to its users; technical capability necessary to construct a complex database and scoring system; and, an understanding of the balance these participating local organizations strike between desires for autonomy and shared resources.
