- Louisiana Piggyback Program: With Hurricane Katrina, and later Hurricanes Rita, Ike and Gustav, came the unprecedented need to reinvent and invest in affordable rental housing in Louisiana. Compass’ work with the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the State’s Office of Community Development led to the piggybacking of nearly $700 Million in CDBG funds onto housing tax credit transactions. - HUD HOME Program Policy and Transactional Support and Technical Assistance: The HOME program annually invests more than $2 billion into rental housing nationwide. Compass has worked with HUD to design and carry out restructurings of selected assets with HOME funding, and to use these experiences to inform the policy and regulatory framework of the HOME program. - USDA’s Rural Development, Multifamily Portfolio Revitalization program: Compass has been principally involved in the design and implementation of USDA’s Multifamily Portfolio Revitalization Demonstration program; hundreds of USDA-financed properties have been underwritten, restructured and stabilized as RHS prepares for a full-scale restructuring of its nearly 16,000 asset portfolio. - State of Mississippi: Compass led the development of a report to compile and assess the best available data on housing damage from Hurricane Katrina and on the State’s housing recovery, to aid the State in planning and guiding recovery efforts. Read more...
- Millennial Housing Commission: The bipartisan Commission, which Congress authorized in 2000, developed legislative and regulatory recommendations for Congress to improve the delivery of housing services to low- and moderate-income Americans and expand affordable housing opportunities.
